New Exhibit Encourages Kids to be 'Heroes of Character'
by KYW’s Karin Phillips
The National Liberty Museum is holding a poster contest involving its new exhibit, Heroes of Character -- teaching young people about what it takes to be a hero of character.
Peggie Sweeney is vice president and project manager of the new Heroes of Character exhibit and web site at the National Liberty Museum. She says the new exhibit, for the first time, takes all of the teaching themes of the Museum -- character development, conflict resolution, rights and responsibilities of living in freedom -- and puts them into four poster interactives:
“Young people and families are challenged with ethnical decision making in an interesting way and they get to make choices and get feedback from those choices and they also learn from the life lessons of heroes like Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, Roberto Clemente and many others that are featured.”
