Sometimes Flash animation just can't be beat! (The Evil Empire)

What can I say? This little movie is funny and executed perfectly! This is the perfect example of a very 'viral' book video. From the website to the downloadable wallpaper, American historian Steven Grasse's book The Evil Empire, which can be summed up as a cheeky diatribe on all things Anglo, is very well-marketed indeed. (Although the author is not a particularly articulate radio interviewee.)

This book is associated with The Arcadia Project www.thearcadiaproject.net. (I must warn you that-due to all the videos-this is an annoyingly slow-loading website!!!) Its statement of purpose is:

The Arcadia Project is a sequence of five projects that together form a phenomenology of attentional economics and American pop culture at the beginning of the 21st century. Transmitted to the public through the medium of advertising, the Arcadia Project seeks to provoke new lines of thinking about the relationship between technology, the media, sex, truth, and the accelerating global economy. It sets forth advertising itself as a new system, a collective game we play to better understand ourselves and our place among one another.

Hmm...
