Narragansett offers yearlong supply of beer as drinking incentive
By Russell J. Moore
Narragansett Beer, the legendary Rhode Island brewing company, is offering beer drinkers a few extra incentives to enjoy a cold Narragansett this holiday season.
Narragansett Beer drinkers who purchase a 12-pack of bottles from most area liquor stores will be given 10 coasters with rebus puzzles drawn on them. Rebus coasters are pictures representing a kind of word puzzle that uses pictures to represent works or parts of words—all at no cost.
“If you’re bringing beer to a party, this is a great, free way of dressing up,” said Mark Hellendrung, company CEO.
“It’s a bit of more grownup, more mature drinking game.”
Hidden within those rebus coasters will be two coasters alerting the purchaser that he or she has won a yearlong supply of Narragansett. The company determines a yearlong supply as one case of beer per month or 12 cases all at once.
Also included will be one coaster signaling the buyer has won an all expense paid round trip to Fort Meyers, Fla. to watch the Red Sox gear up for the 2010 season.
The company forecasts that it will be able to build a brewery by the first quarter of 2011. At this point, the company is contact brewing in upstate New York.
