Caroline Rogers of It Looks Good To Me: It's the Thought (and Flavor) That Counts
We're completely enamored with textile designer Caroline Rogers' recently launched blog Itlooksgoodtome.com--so much so that we featured Rogers in our December issue. Not only is her taste exquisite, but her illustrations (which accompany every post) are pretty gorgeous, too. We've tapped her to guest blog all this week on Lucky Right Now.
With Thanksgiving coming up right around the corner, I am fixated on one thing and one thing alone: food.
Food is one of my favorite things to give for the holidays and it is also one of my favorite things to get. It can be instantly enjoyed, shared with friends, is guaranteed not to collect dust on the shelf, is relatively inexpensive and no matter the size, it always fits.

Last year I put together a holiday gift for someone that consisted entirely of food products made in my home city. This is the kind of gift that gets you involved in your community and challenges you to do a little detective work.
Chances are there are some food products you see all the time and never thought were made in the city you live in. It's fun to dive into Etsy for locally made baked goods, or to peruse farmers markets for local jams, cured meats, cheeses, and even locally-made wine or home-brewed beer. Once you start looking, it is amazing what you can find.
Here are some of my favorite local foods from Brooklyn (and beyond):

Frankies 457 Olive Oil (ok, this one is made in Italy, but bears the name of one of my favorite Brooklyn restaurants!); Stumptown Coffee (from Portland, OR); 479 Popcorn (from San Francisco, CA); Rick's Picks Phat Beets Pickled Beets (from Brooklyn, NY); Whimsy & Spice Espresso Brownie with Dulce de Leche (from Brooklyn, NY), also available on Etsy
