Quaker City Mercantile (formerly known as Gyro Worldwide) Creates 'Ugly Town USA'
Some Souls Can Be Bought and Sold
We stalwart vanguards of moral decency and social propriety here at Metro almost threw up in our mouths when we read this post on Philebrity about Philadelphia advertising guru Steve Grasse's most recent wacked-out attempt to get business.
As most people saw tramped through the news last week, a little-read publication known as Travel + Leisure rated Philadelphia as the bottom of big cities in terms of "attractiveness." (We at Metro also disagree with this, but not to digress.)
Now, Grasse, who is somewhat famous for writing an entire book aimed at getting the British royalty to give every person in the world a share of $58 trillion in reparations (don't ask), is calling on Greater Philadelphia Tourism and Marketing Corp. to use our "ugliest city" appeal to our benefit. Ooooookkkkkaay.
That's like telling Hummer to use its gas-guzzling ability as a selling point. Nice one.
Oh, and Grasse wants the city to pay his company, Quaker City Mercantile, to advertise our ugliness. What a surprise...
