Press Release Of The Week: Quaker City Mercantile (formerly known as Gyro Worldwide) Gets Someone Arrested In A Foreign Country Then Brags
Says Quaker City Mercantile:
Just as Richard Gere was charged for violating India's public obscenity laws for kissing Indian actress Shilpa Shetty at a fundraiser last month in Jaipur (a charge which was just dropped this week), the Indian government has come a-callin' for a Lee Cooper executive in response to a billboard that featured a model with her Lee Cooper denim's pulled down to waist level. The Indian-based brand manager was thrown in jail because of a few people's objection to the ads and is now currently out on bail and awaiting response from a court.
This ad campaign must have been through at least 20 differnet people desks before being approved and somehow no one thought this might be offensive to Indian sensibilites? Obviously, we don't think women should be kept covered and quiet, and this whole idea of sending someone to jail for showing a little skin makes us sick. But really, India? That girl is about to give it to you all dirty style, they are not ready for that over there.
