Quaker City Mercantile (formerly known as Gyro Worldwide) Marches to the Rhythm of the War Drums
Quaker City Mercantile, Philadelphia, launches guerilla-marketing assault during the Republican National Convention.
Blurring the lines between art and commerce, Quaker City Mercantile (formerly known as Gyro Worldwide) created an animated music video for multi-platinum selling band, "A Perfect Circle". The video is for the song "Counting Bodies Like Sheep Marching to the Rhythm of the War Drums". The track features Danny Lohner from Nine Inch Nails and appears on A Perfect Circle's new album eMOTIVe, released on Virgin Records November 2nd.
The flash animation video, available on bikinibandits.com and aperfectcircle.com, features George Bush as a new age Pied Piper turning children into sheep by hypnotizing them with television. The video is launching during the Republican National Convention in New York, via an unprecedented guerilla marketing campaign that includes tens of thousands of sheet posters, stickers and print ads all created by Quaker City Mercantile. There will also be a massive on-line campaign - the video has been emailed to 170,000 "A Perfect Circle" fans, who have been instructed to "pass it on".
Virgin Records is also spending big ass bucks airing a 30 second T.V. spot to promote the video on national television. The spot will run on MTV2, Fuse, CNBC, Fox News, MSNBC and HNN. Quaker City Mercantile (formerly known as Gyro Worldwide) and Virgin are also in talks with a sheepherder to get a flock of sheep to "march" through Times Square.
This is Quaker City Mercantile's third video collaboration with "A Perfect Circle". The latest collaboration, a video for "The Outsider" was recently released on home DVD and sold nearly 70,000 units. The song "The Outsider" was a top 10 Rock Radio hit.
