Steinski remixes Narragansett's old Nichols & May ads for radio
Steinski, the legendary rapper/adman, is back. And true to form, he's done something that's sort of an amalgam of his two worlds. Known for his '80s rap singles, which included sound bites of everything from Welch's commercials to the Kennedy assassination (best shown in his What Does it All Mean? 1983-2006 Retrospective), Steinski has now done a collage/ad for Narragansett beer. The radio spot (click the audio embed at the bottom of the post), via Gyro Worldwide, is a moody remix of an old 'Gansett ad featuring Mike Nichols and Elaine May. Those old spots (as seen in the YouTube video here) were lighthearted, the remix suggests something sinister might be going on. I'm not sure if it works, but it's one of the strangest radio ads you're likely to hear this year.

What's Old is New Again
Quaker City Mercantile (the Philadelphia agency formerly known as Gyro Worldwide) has been busy reinvigorating the Narragansett Beer brand.
Given the brand's rich history in New England, it made sense to mine the archives and that's what QCM did.
