With the holiday shopping season upon us, we thought it might be helpful to give a few suggestions on where you could stop, take a break and actually enjoy some holiday spirit(s). Below is a list of some of our favorite haunts and festive drinks, with a slight locavore bent, of course!

The Dizzy Fizz: Holiday Spirits Bazaar | Astor Center
Last night the Dizzy Fizz hosted their annual Holiday Spirits Bazaar at the Astor Center, and holy break out the punchbowls are we ready to throw the best holiday parties ever. Veritable punch king, David Wondrich was on hand stirring up a cauldron of something with rum, cognac and porter beer aged in rum barrels. Hudson Whiskey created a milk punch, which was not only a delicious standout of the evening, but a less unctuous alternative to egg nog.

Filling
- 4 cups diced tart apples
- 1/2 cup buckwheat honey
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1/4 cup SNAP ginger liqeur or dark rum (optional)
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- 1 tsp. salt
- pinch ground black pepper
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract or 1/2 vanilla bean
