Quaker City Mercantile has always fostered a strong love of history. In order to help out the Philadelphia Historical Society and bring some artwork from their wonderful archive of historical artifacts into the public sphere, we brokered a series of collaborations between the historical society and our in-house, multi-
category lifestyle brand, Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction.

The first of these was a collection of limited edition letterpress stationary designed from the historical society's collection that was sold in store and on the Art in the Age website. Next, we reproduced a series of antique holiday cards. Finally, in the spring of 2009, Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction partnered with the Pennsylvania Historical Society to celebrate Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday.

For the month of February, a series of rare Lincoln photos, etchings and lithographs were made available for viewing on the Art in the Age site. Limited edition prints and a Lincoln t-shirt were created by Quaker City Mercantile and sold in the Art in the Age store and online. The Art in the Age store also commissioned local artists to create original Lincoln artwork that was displayed in the store.

The merchandise proved to be very popular, sold out completely and served to further awareness of the historical society and their mission. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of all the items designed from historical collection works was donated to the Philadelphia Historical Society.
