Epic recording artists Phantom Planet came to Quaker City mercantile and asked us to help them build buzz for the band. So we did something very strange: we staged a fake music video shoot outside our G*Mart Store and then hyped the event like there was no tomorrow.

More than 3,500 fans showed up, which is no small feat considering the outdoor show was in the middle of January and the temperature was hovering around 15 degrees.

Y100, the local modern rock radio station was so impressed they put the band on heavy rotation. Other stations followed suit coast to coast. A year later, they did the theme for The O.C. TV Show on FOX and the rest is history.
