Travel and Leisure
To our surprise and delight, Travel & Leisure Magazine voted Philadelphia 2007's ugliest, least attractive city in America! We thought, "what a great opportunity to get some press for both Quaker City Mercantile and help out our hometown."
We created a print campaign that turned the perceived negative of being "ugly" into a positive. Granted, this is a really simple, obvious idea, but it turns out we were the only ones who thought of it.
We sent out our press release and bam! Instant media frenzy! Blogs, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and even Fox News picked up on it and ran with it.
Just goes to show you that while traditional media has its merits, you can get miles and miles out of non-traditional marketing efforts if you know how to take advantage of it like Quaker City Mercantile.
