MTV Games came to Quaker City Mercantile with a sensational opportunity: they were developing a new game called "Rock Band," and they wanted us to help them design the game's much talked about tattoo shop. They also wanted to include original Sailor Jerry tattoo flash. Quaker City Mercantile worked closely with the game's developers—the same team behind the original "Guitar Hero"—in what turned out to be one of the best-selling video games of all time.

The tattoo shop differentiates "Rock Band" from its competition, "Guitar Hero 3," by adding a higher level of authenticity (the "Rock Band" tattoo shop uses real, legendary tattoo artists such as our very own Sailor Jerry). This deal underscores Quaker City Mercantile's ability to grow brands in very non-traditional ways.

Sailor Jerry was also featured in the critically acclaimed sequel, "Rock Band 2." To date, the "Rock Band" franchise has sold over 6 million units. That's at least 6 million gamers, rock 'n' rollers and pseudo-musicians connecting with our brand. And it didn't cost us a dime.
