Converse
Quick, name one other ad agency that has its own sneaker licensing deal? Times up! There aren't any!
Converse approached Quaker City Mercantile to create four different Sailor Jerry Chuck Taylor shoe designs (Sailor Jerry is one of the clothing companies owned by Quaker City Mercantile). We designed every aspect of the shoes—including the color of the rubber—and oversaw production. Some are canvas and some are
leather—the leather being more expensive, limited and exclusively designed for stores like Barney's, Fred Segal, Harvey Nichols, etc.
Quaker City Mercantile is paid a royalty fee for each pair sold. And, of course, the deal is global.
