Not too long after Quaker City Mercantile's decade-long relationship with Puma came to an end, we received a long-distance call from Denmark. On the other end of the line was Danish shoe company ECCO. We didn't know it at the time, but ECCO was a major global brand that was selling over 15 million pairs of shoes annually in over 50 markets. They loved our Puma work and wanted Quaker City Mercantile to help them overhaul their performance division.

After a trip to ECCO's headquarters in the middle of nowhere in the Danish countryside, we eagerly set about reinventing ECCO's performance line from the inside out. Working off of ECCO's unique, foot-centric, Danish design perspective and constant search for new materials and technology, we positioned ECCO's running, outdoor and hiking collections as the only performance footwear that provides the comfort necessary to overcome any obstacle.

This idea of "the power of comfort" was the perfect counterpoint to the technology-driven performance claims of the big players like Nike, Adidas and North Face that we had decided to take ECCO up against. While their gear focused on overcoming adversity through fancy technology, it lacked the basic comfort necessary to facilitate peak performance. From trade show booths to shoe boxes, to retail fixtures, to print and outdoor, to web and guerilla marketing materials, this idea served as the main messaging in all of Quaker City Mercantile's work.
 
After our brand reinvigoration work, ECCO's performance division saw incredible growth, and we've continued to build off of that momentum as their global agency ever since. In fact, Quaker City Mercantile has been entrusted with several other ECCO brands, and continues to push ECCO to new and greater heights.
